An important Note on Video
Me Photographing your wedding is a full time job. I've worked hard to minimize and optimise my kit so I can move fast and get all of the best photos, without any of the compromises:
Today, you'll see that photographers are also offering 'a bit of video' or a highlights video package.
I've tried this and I noticed one thing: Video slows everything down, and stops and starts the day in a way that just interferes with capturing your wedding in that important natural and candid way.
It's a different mindset.
I don't want to deliver 60% of what I'm there for (The Photography) just so I can charge you more for a bit of video, that is nowhere near as good as it should be.
This is my 'Hot Take', if you will:
Photographers are diminishing the quality of their output by talking you in to spending more with them for a highlights package, just to get your booking, but it's not something they can do without dedicated equipment, or without a second person to operate the video - unless they forfeit the photography part that you're paying them to do so well!
If you want video - hire a specialist videographer. Don't scrimp on their value. They're good at what they do.
If you don't want to spend on an actual professional videographer, buy a tripod and put someone in charge of an iPhone for the ceremony and speeches, and you're done. It hasn't cost you anything.
One thing that people don't talk about is the 'Performance Factor' with video.
You see, a lot of people tell me that they 'aren't camera friendly' or a bit awkward in front of the camera.
That's OK - a lot of us are.
One of the great things about my photography is that I've worked for years making people feel natural in front of the camera. All of that candid stuff is all about getting the best out of people in the moment.
Video does something different : it adds a layer of performance. Walk this way, look over your shoulder, stop, do that again. It can kill the momentum, just to get the shot.
